Our Academy celebrated the 2025 Tokyo Deaflympics in style with our very own Opening Ceremony! We were honoured to welcome Lulu Kemp, former Deaflympics Silver Medallist, and Becky Price from Destination Deaflympics (UK Deaf Sport) -two inspiring figures who brought the international Deaflympics spirit right to our campus!
The students learnt all about the Deaflympics, created vibrant banners to cheer on countries from around the world and tried their hand at Deaflympics sports.
We then had our own flag parade led by the Mayor of Exmouth and our incredible drummers. Followed by a powerful speech about the importance of this event by Matt Jenkins our teacher and Research and Development Lead.
It was a day full of fun, pride, and unity a true showcase of the best of being Deaf and part of this amazing community. Our students are incredibly proud of team GB who won 12 Deaflympics medals. You can catch up on all highlights of the event on Lumo TV.
